Note: The age, requirements, and titles of a Youth Knight may vary depending upon the state and jurisdiction. Most KOP organizations are structure around two types of life-skills Leadership and Community Service. Learning these skills is a part of their youth development process which prepares them to meet the challenges from adolescents to adulthood.
LEADERSHIP

Wikipedia defines this as "Youth leadership is the practice of teens exercising authority over themselves or others. Youth leadership has been elaborated upon as a theory of youth development in which young people gain skills and knowledge necessary to lead civic engagement, education reform and community organizing activities"

COMMUNITY SERVICE​
Community services is as a non-paying job performed by one person or a group of people for the benefit of the community. It's an opportunity for youth to learn the importance of not only giving back but to also take care of the communities they live in. Personal benefits may be realized, but it may be performed for a variety of reasons including citizenship requirements.
